Interview with Nathyr, Middle Eastern Progressive Death Metal Band

Nathyr is Prog Death Folk Metal Band from Egypt. Nathyr are Ajjallad - Guitars (lead), Isphalahar - Guitars (rhythm), Ashipu - Keyboards, and Assultan - Vocals. Nathyr gave us some information. Check it out.

 Tell us about Nathyr?
Once a vision back in 1997 that turned into an allegiance in 2009 then to a final transformation in 2014. This group of men have chosen to portrait the vision that dominates their imagination and completely share it with the world. A fine morph of middle eastern sounds with some grinding riffs and some wailing grunts will be sure to send you to outer space!

What are lyrical themes of Nathyr?
The closest  English translation to "Nathyr" is the word "Omen". If you attempt to walk through the tales that speak of either the history or the culture of ancient Arabia, you would notice that the process had always involved a nomadic narrator or a poet, who used to roam through villages and towns telling  tales in such a way that is not only entertaining to the ears and minds, but also moralistic and virtuous. In Nathyr, the lyrics are usually illustrate folk tales, epic battles, and theatrical scenes that are inspired by the history and culture of the numerous civilizations that inhabited the Arab/Middle-Eastern side of the world, they philosophically indicate "the omen" of a certain evil or eventual ill end, that is more related to the modern conflicts and struggles that are taking place in the same region.

What are your influences?
Our vocalist is influenced with avant garde, black and death metal. Guitars are a variety of influences, mainly melodic as well as headbanging and death metal riffage .Our keyboards are very orchestral as well as a wide array of eastern instruments. The drums are just extreme!

Can you tell us about the Metal Scene in Egypt?
Regardless of all the difficulties and obstacles the metal bands face in the middle-east, the bands themselves are evolving and are using newer music-making technology, that enables them of delivering their music and talent for the masses. However, the local venues and organizers devalue the bands that prevents them from being rewarded as they should be.

Who are Your Favorite Egyptian Metal Band?
Osiris & Sin Prophecy

How were the songs written?
Lyrical/Album concepts are written by Shathley, the main foundation of the music is done by Askar. In the preceding stages of building the music Keys and lead guitars are incorporated. Arrangement runs in the same manner of foundation then integration by all the members.

How did the recording process go?
We did everything in our own little recording studio in the mid town area of Alexandria,Egypt.Drums are programmed, guitars come in next, sometimes the keys first as they could be a guide for the guitars and lastly the vocals.

What are your future plan?
On the technical side, Nathyr is planning to enhance the entertaining experience by providing more realistic and attractive visual and audible output.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
Negotiations are planned to take place with fellow Arab neighbors in the middle-east to perform together, as we also plan to move to the European zone where the folk and middle-eastern approaches in metal are more recognized and appreciated.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
We love to play alongside bands that were inspired like us with the middle-eastern culture like Nile and Septic Flesh.

Any last words?
We look forward to being a role model in the Egyptian metal scene, we wish to reflect how music can be made without conditions or laws. Music is the international code we all speak and that's the way it should remain.

Interview with Orpheum, Progressive Gothic Metal Band from London

Orpheum is Prog Gothic Metal Band from London. Orpheum are Andrew Thomson - Drums, Finlay Thomson - Guitars, Martine "Mars" Martin - Keyboards, Vocals (backing), SFX, Erin Johnson - Vocals, and Phillipe Dutra - Bass. Orhpeum gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Orpheum?
We're a five piece gothic melodic metal band based in London, UK. After a successful EP release in 2012, this year we released our first full length album, titled 'Darkness and Decay'.

What are lyrical themes of Orpheum?
As the title of our album suggests, we like to delve into dark themes but in a way that sees the beauty and tragedy in them. Darkness and Decay is an Edgar Allen Poe reference about the power of death, so the lyrics draw from that, along with past experiences including a heavy dose of heartbreak.

What are your influences?
Our influences are quite varied. Each member brings their own which we try and mix together. But bands like Within Temptation, Gothminister, Lacuna Coil and Epica are ones that come to mind.

Can you tell us about Metal Scene in Your Town?
The metal scene in London is still going fairly strong. However for the sub genres the scene is not so well catered for, but that's not to say there are no fans for it. We have met lots of them so we know it's still thriving. A lot of venues have shut down in recent years, but the spirit definitely remains. Camden is definitely our first home but we've found interest all over the city and plenty of great bands are playing.

Who are Your Favorite United Kingdom Metal Band?
There are the greats, but we've come across a lot of greats in the underground scene too. A recent favourite from the UK has to be Evyltyde; one of the most fun and technically accomplished bands you'll see on the UK metal scene. We'll be playing with them again on 17th November in Camden, along with Lithuanian band Berserker.

How were the songs written?
Most of them come out of group jamming sessions, with lyrics written by various members. Everyone puts something in and really makes our sound what it is.

How did the recording process go?
Recording was fun, but it wasn't the smoothest ride. The album took two years to put together for various reasons and the mixing phase was intensive. We've learned a lot about the process now which will definitely speed up how our next album is put together.

What are your future plan?
At the moment, we're gigging around the UK as much as possible to promote the  album. Recently the gigs have been getting bigger and that has been great, so we'll be planning to play bigger shows and spread our wings in Europe. Next year, we'll take some time to focus on new material and then we should hopefully be ready to start planning out our second album.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
Countries such as Germany and Poland are definitely top of our list. They have some of the best alternative festivals in Europe and it would be great to play at them, representing the goth metal scene from the UK.
We recently went on tour with Suddenlash from Spain and Alwaid from France and had a great time with them, so we'd also love to go say hi to those guys on their home turfs some time.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
It would definitely be an honour to play with all the bands we have listed as influences. Obviously we will all have our personal favourites we'd love to play with, the likes of Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Rammstein or Dream Theater.

Any last words?
Our album came out this past June, so check it out either from our official store http://store.orpheum.co or it's available from iTunes, GooglePlay and the usual sites. Make sure to check out our Facebook at http://facebook.com/orpheumband our website http://orpheum.co to keep up to date with future shows and news!

Interview with Draugr

Interview with Draugr

This’s our interview with British Melodic Blackened Death Metal Band, Draugr. Check out interview, check it out.

Tell us about Draugr?
Draugr are British melodic death metal band with five members: Shea “Janne” Mackay (vocals, lead guitar), Chay “Ahti” Johnson (rhythm guitar), Dan Tuck (bass), Ellen Meadows (keyboard), James Kelly (drums). Formed in 2014 by Janne and James, we aim for a Scandinavian metal sound with added harsh thrash and symphonic elements. We sing in duolingo (English and Finnish).

What are lyrical themes of Draugr?
Suicide, worthlessness, failure, hearing things that aren’t there, but also fantasy and love. There isn’t one specific subject we write about but you could definitely say there’s a theme.

What are your influences?
Children of Bodom, Kalmah, Norther, Wintersun, Tyr, Whorion, Finntroll, Equilibrium, and Shade Empire. Each member has their own influences, which means that everyone brings something different to the band on stage and in the studio.

Who are Your Favorite United Kingdom Metal Bands?
Iron Maiden has a great place in my heart (Janne), though we all really enjoy bands such as Fen, Akercocke, Saxon, Venom and Alestorm. We have a bit more passion for old school British metal and Black Metal.

How were the songs written?
The first few songs, such as “Nothing (Left For Me)” and “Surunlapsi”, were written in Janne and James’ jamming sessions. Nowadays Janne writes the base of the songs and the rest of the band adds their input to create a finished product. There’s no singular formula.

How did the recording process go?
So far we only have our demo album out and that was recorded quickly. At the moment we’re in the studio working on new songs for our debut album “Towards the End”. It’s been a stressful process, but we’re getting there and promise a hard-hitting album for all our fans to put their necks out to.

What are your future plans?
Our first priority is releasing “Towards the End”, which we’ll be following up with a bunch of gigs and new merchandise. Our dream is to tour with the bands who have given us our inspiration, like Children of Bodom and Whorion, though that’d be a few years down the line. In the meantime, we’re aiming for a UK tour, Bloodstock Festival and finding a suitable label to sign with.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
Finland. We’re all interested in the Finnish metal scene and Scandinavian culture in general. This summer Janne and Ellen travelled to Nummirock Festival and found the atmosphere so great we’ve made it a goal to play. Other countries would be Germany, France and Italy. The European metal scene is thriving and we aim to be a part of it. Our members already have interests overseas and even a few links, so hopefully it won’t be long until we’re hopping on a plane for our next show instead of the bus.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
Children of Bodom, Kalmah and Whorion. If not for these bands, Draugr probably wouldn’t exist. We’ve had personal help from Whorion and influence from Bodom and Kalmah both on stage and in the studio.

Any last words?
Nothing which comes to mind, other than we hope to play to all our fans around the world eventually. We’re still growing as a band, so enjoy our music, come to our shows and listen out for more in the future. Thank you to BDP Music for this interview and cheers to all the fans reading!

Reviews: Paranoid Despire – Nebulous

  3. The Oath of Demons: Menceritakan sebuah kisah perjanjian antara para Iblis dengan para Dewa. Dalam lirik bagian pertama “Demons made an oath with gods” yang artinya para Iblis membuat sebuah janji dengan para Dewa.
Mungkin hanya segini pendapat saya.
  7. Infected Voice (Sepultura Cover): More infected than Sepultura.
  8. Infernal Prison: Kord Gitar pada lagu ini seperti suara UFO di Film War of the World. Dan kolaborasi dengan David Salim membuat lagu ini sedikit Technical Death dan Wah Gitar mengingatkan pada Cemetery Gates dari Pantera.
  9. Aim The Highest: Sebuah Lagu Death Metal penutup bertempo sedang dan diakhiri oleh suara serangga.

Interview with Omnipotent, Female Fronted Prog Metal Band from Panama

Omnipotent is Progressive Metal Band from Panama City. They're Edgar Candanedo - Bass, Diego Morales - Drums, Carlos Vargas - Guitars, and Claudia Cordero - Vocals. Omnipotent gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about omnipotent?
We are a progressive metal band from Panama. We have been playing as a band for almost 4 years, primarily in the Panama City Metal Scene, and a couple of shows in other cities within Panama. We recorded an E/P album back on 2013, and are about to jump into the studio to record our debut full album.

What are lyrical themes of OMNIPOTENT?
Through our lyrics we try to make sense of human experience, its complexity and opacity. Power, human alienation, exploitation and social justice are also among our topics.

What are your influences?
Our influences come from many different music styles and bands, such as Dream Theater, Tool, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Tesseract, Karnivool, Pantera, Megadeth, and so on....

Can you tell us about Metal Scene in Panama?
Despite of being a small country, we have many bands in almost every style of rock, including metal, but we lack of enough support from the public, media and investors.

Who are Your Favorite Panama Metal Band?
There are many, but we’d say Harvest and Komodo are doing a great job.

How were the songs written?
All our songs were (and are) written collectively in jamming sessions, or from riff ideas our guitarist comes up with. Then our singer adds the vocal melodies (or growls) and writes the lyrics.

How did the recording process go?
We had worked with our producer weeks before going into the studio, so the sessions went pretty smoothly. It was also the first time for some of us recording backing vocals (for Uprising), but it was pretty fun.

What are your future plan?
We are about to record our first full album, by the end of this year. After that we plan on promoting the album, and get our first gig outside Panama.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
We would like to play in South America, USA, and Europe, since they have the biggest scenes for our music style, but we are willing to play in any country that would have us.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
It’d be a dream come true to be the opening band for Opeth or Tesseract some day.

Interview with CelticrÖm, Female Fronted Folk Metal Band from Madrid

CelticrÖm is Female Fronted Folk Metal Band from Madrid, Spain. They're J.I. Oliva - Drums, Goku Sevilla - Flute, Diego Martín - Guitars, J.L Piris F - Guitars, Belén Arteaga - Violin, and Yohana Cano - Vocals. CelticrÖm gave us some information.

Tell us about CelticrÖm?
Celticröm appears in 2014 as a project focused on folk-metal but, as the time went on, our style was molded into something which is hard to place in a specific branch of that genre.

What are lyrical themes of CelticrÖm?
Our inspiration grows from a reflective point of view towards the things that surround the human being, an unforgiving self-critic against injustices and a rebel yell against this life that sometimes tries to put us down

What are your influences?
We don’t have a hardly set confined style or a reference band to follow. We mix the variety of influences that each member brings on in a celtic folk cauldron and cook them on a hard rock fire.

Can you tell us about Metal Scene in Your Town?
In a cosmopolitan city such as Madrid you can find every style of metal or any other music but we can say that there were better times for metal here in terms of popularity. There is a not style predominant among the others; in most of the metal venues that are left it is possible to hear things from classic rock to extreme metal.

Who are Your Favorite Spanish Folk Metal Band?
That must be “Mägo de Oz“, they were among the pioneers of celtic folk metal not only in Spain but in the world.

How were the songs written?
When composing, we often start with the lyrics and we keep summing ideas from each band member. Then we structure these ideas together and boom! our new hit is born.

How did the recording process go?
It was a great experience. We felt at home in the studio and we are grateful for the implication and advice of the sound engineer, which was like another member of the band. We think the result is a reflection of that experience.
What are your future plan?
The future is... uncertain, so to speak. As long as the excitement in the band doesn’t fade away we will go wherever our destiny takes us. Trying to be heard, composing new material and giving our best on the stage to the people that follow us. We are waiting for you to share this journey.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
We don’t think on a specific country but what we would like is to be part of a big music festival: meet other musicians - both novel and renowned - , share our experiences with them and learn from each other. And of course, to show what we can do to the masses of music fans.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
That’s a hard one. As individuals we can list a lot of bands of contrasting or even discordant styles. But thinking as Celticröm, ... well, the result will be pretty much the same. Jokes aside, we will look forward for the call of acclaimed bands who want us to open for them. We are available!

Any last words?
No more words, time for the music !!

Interview with Ultar, Post Black Metal Band from Russia

Ultar is Post Black Metal Band from Krasnoyarsk, Russia. They're Pavel - Bass, Denis - Guitars, Maxim - Guitars, Gleb - Vocals, and Mark - Drums. Ultar gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Ultar?
The band was formed in 2011, in our hometown Krasnoyarsk. At first, it was a side project for all of us, as we were playing in different bands at a time. We all were listening to some genre-mastodons as Immortal, Gorgoroth and all the other black metal bands that you listen to when you cut classes in your school. We've been listening to such music for years before we started the band, but never tried to play anything similar. However, through some period of time we started to pay more attention to Deafknife(Ultar's first incarnation). The band started to bring some feedback from the listeners, and this fact crucially stimulated us to start working harder on this project.
Since less than a year of our existence Deafknife became quite a loud name in Russian underground music. Some people were supporting us, others were blaming us for using term "Post-Black" to identify our music. All in all, we never really claimed ourselves as pure black metal project whatsoever.
There were a lot of changes that happened to the band since it was created. Eventually, a series of events, activities and influences led us to the name change of the band to Ultar.

What are lyrical themes of Ultar?
The lyrics of Kadath are based on Lovecraftian mythology. When we started to work on Kadath we tried to trace to the original idea of storytelling, rather than to make another simple song compilation and calling it LP.  However, lyrics on the album are not really telling a story, but more of creating a space for imagination along with the music.
Our main lyrical themes may be defined as every man's search for a self, gains and losses of life, wounderings and hopes.
Despite that our lyrics are written in Russian, there is a translation for every song in a booklet of a CD, so go grab one and understand what this all is about.

What are your influences?
The main our influence was, of course H. P. Lovecraft and his “The Dream Quest of the Unknown Kadath”. Unlike the most of Lovecraft-inspired bands, we tried to create the dreamy and adventurous feeling with the music, not the dark and obscure atmosphere. It shows the other side of Lovecraft, the side that we like a lot.
It is hard to say about music that influenced this album, as we listen to a vast number of different bands and artists in different genres. Moreover, our musical tastes and preferences were changing gradually during the recording of Kadath, so it could be a mix of genres that influenced us; from classic black metal acts like Gorgoroth to Cascadian ones like Wolves in the Throne Room and Agalloch and then to a whole bunch of non-black metal bands as The Angelic Process, Cult of Luna and so on. We also listened to a shoegaze masters Slowdive and psychedelic rock icons Pink Floyd a lot during the whole album production.

How did you choose the cover artwork (Kadath)?
The artwork came to life as an inspiration by the system of stone mountains around Krasnoyarsk called Stolby. In fact, the face from the cover looks kind of like one of those mountains, called "the grandfather", I guess you may find it using Google. It also looks like a Lovecraftian Ngranek mountain, where according to the legend the elder gods depicted themselves in a stone. So it’s like a symbiosis of these two inspirations.

How were the songs written?
Well, the most part of album was written during the band's rehearsals. We were jamming together and creating riffs on the go.
As the basis for the songs was ready we started to work precisely on some decorations, adding solos, harmonies and all these little things that make final version sound more interesting. Many things that sound on the album had been added much latter than song was actually recorded.

How did the recording process go?
First we came up with some guitar and bass riffs, as we really wanted to make Kadath a more guitar-based album. Actually, we turned the whole process of recording upside down, so we recorded both guitars first, then bass, and finished with the drums. It’s kinda weird, but worked well for us. It became a little tricky as soon as we started to work on the mastering process, as we tried to find a proper man to fullfill our wishes for the sound. The whole process of mixing and mastering took us a little less than three years. Eventually, our label helped us to contact Mell Dettemer, who played a great part in making this album to sound properly.

What are your future plan?
There definitely will be a massive Russian tour next year. Before that, we will perform some shows around Siberia, as here is a certain community of our friends and fans who were waiting for this album for quite a long time.
Of course, it would be great to get to some big festivals during the summer and we work on it.
We would definitely love to tour abroad, as we have never done that before. In fact, we have a decent touring experience that we obtained during our previous Russian tours, and we have a new long play out, so theoretically, this year is the best time for us to expend our tour map.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
We would like to tour pretty much any country that will be ready to host Ultar on their venues.
There are many people asking us to tour their cities and countries on Facebook, hopefully we'll be able to cover all the requests one day.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
We played with Behemoth once a couple of years ago, it would be nice to repeat that experience as they're living legends and people that we respect a lot. It would also awesome to play with Alcest, they are a great and truly inspiring band and Neige seems to be a really nice person. And of course Cult of Luna, as they make one of the best shows of all metal bands. There's also a crazy dream to share the stage with Anaal Nathrakh. We called out these four, but there are many more of them for sure.

Any last words?
It is a great feel when people from the countries we've never been to support us and our music. Thank you for your voices, it means a lot for us. See you on the shows!

Interview with Nogah, Progressive Death Metal Band from Costa Rica

Nogah is Progressive Death Metal Band from Costa Rica. They’re José Campos, Rolando Duarte, Jason Quesada, Camilo Espinoza, and Jonathan Badilla. Nogah gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Nogah?
Nogah is a late era prog metal band with a death metal influence, we are from Costa Rica. The band is composed of members with similar ideals, we decided to get together and create a project that has a common goal. Our musical influences are very similar and this has allowed us to develop our own sound.

What are lyrical themes of Mogah?
The lyrics have evolved and varied according to how we have developed our sound. Some lyrics narrate the story of people who achieved important things in life, some talk about important events in history and about our philosophy of life.  It is important to mention that the meaning of our name derives from the Hebrew word used to describe the shining light people see when they are about to die, so we use this theme as the main influence for our lyrics and compositions.

What are your influences?
Our influences are varied, we like classic prog rock, prog metal, jazz and all genres of metal, so we like to compose music that is versatile, where the high and energetic moments and the low moments have a chance to breath and expand in the song, making it very dynamic, always using diverse metrics and time measures.

How did you choose the cover artwork?
We took into account the meaning of our band’s name. The images make you aware of how every living thing has a limited time span, everything that has a beginning has an end, what once had life will die and travel to Nogah, so this cycle is what we want everyone to see with the artwork.

How were the songs written?
Both guitarists are also in charge of vocals, they have implemented their way of playing using our influences to create the lyrics. It’s never easy to incorporate all the ideas that you want to express in the lyrics of just one song, so if something is hard to say in words we will say it with music, this is how we manage to express what we want in our songs.

How did the recording process go?
It was fun but not easy, our demo (Nogah) was not created professionally in a studio, it was created at our drummers house using a computer and recording software, all the mixing and mastering was done by our keyboard player and one of the guitarists. Everyone worked hard late at night in some occasions. We feel that we have managed to let the world hear what we want to express with our music.

What are your future plan?
Our plan for the future is to record our first LP and to consolidate ourselves as an important band in the Costa Rican musical scene, and then the world scene.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
We are interested in visiting any country, of course the U.S and Europe are a very important stage if you want to be heard around the world.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
Opeth is one of our biggest influences, without a doubt this would be the band that we would love to play with, but playing with any other renown band that we can identify with would also be great.

Any last words?
We just want to say thank you and we hope that a lot of people can listen to and identify themselves with our music, thanks.

Testament - Brotherhood Of The Snake (Album Lyrics)

Testament - Brotherhood of the Snake Lyrics

Coiled forever in the darkness below
They await for the right time to strike
Defending the truth and protecting the lies
Reptilian shedding their skin

They gather in masses encrypting the stars
To breed slaves sworn to war
The thrashing and bashing and blistering burns
Death brough forth to the world

Serpent's eyes always watching you
Without a trace, the covenant of the snake
Succumbing unto your fate, they've been watching you
Through shape shift eyes in sumerian disguise
By the gods who decree our fate
By the gods who decree our fate

[Solo: Alex]

De-luvium religions of monarchs and gods
The hideous hydra takes shape
The bloodline descendants of it's original form
The dragon of Egypt awakes

They've taken the tablets and hidden the scrolls
To deceive the ones they protect
The truth of creation, mutation of man
Entombed in the vatican walls

Serpent's eyes always watching you
Without a trace, the covenant of the snake
Succumbing unto your fate, they've been watching you
Through shape shift eyes in sumerian disguise
By the gods who decree our fate
By the gods who decree our fate
The gods who decree our fate
By the gods who decree our fate

Now!
We are the ones who dominate
Five thousand years, silent control
Societies to subjugate
Eternity complete control
The brotherhood of the snake
And we will always assume control!

Testament - The Pale King Lyrics

I was awakened by the howling of the dog
Or perhaps a wolf
Summoned by the voices who are shouting in my ear
The pale king comes from afar

Before the time, who will decide
I've lived to see one thousand moons
I am weak, I am ill
I am old with a taste for the kill

[Solo: Eric]

All that I've seen in the years that I possess
The faces I don't recognize
Summoning the ancients with the evil that awaits
Reading from the book of the dead

Zone of the Gods, below the sea
I've traveled amongst the stars
I am life, I am Death
I control the gates of this world

The pale kings reign, condemns this world
Their doing time till the end of there lives

Falling, travaling through out this world
Falling, fallen from the skies
Taken from the prophecy as they control your mind
The pale kings hold your fate

One hundred thousand years and counting
One hundred thousand million more to go
Throughout his life he keeps on searching
The pale king makes this world his own

And the seals of these are written herein
Yet others I must take with me
The spirit of Daemon no longer known
Anu have mercy on my soul

[Solo: Alex]

Testament - Stronghold Lyrics

Elected to the show and our freedom never knows
How is who and where to why we fail
Those who are in charge in controlling who we are
When there's nothing we can even fucking do, up rise stronghold

Fight for survival, fighting for your life
We're fighting for the reptiles
Freedom of speech, freedom of lies
They tell us what we want to hear, it happens all the time

Does it mater what the people say, hey
Does it matter to you, who
Does it mater what the people say, hey
What do the people want to do

Feeling no devotion, the final vote is in
People have elected, the incumbent to win
The time is for reprisal, time to incite
'Cause there's nothing we can even fucking do, up rise stronghold

Putting it together and forcing them to fight
Bringing home the reptiles who bled the world dry
Seeing through their speeches and reading through their lies
They show us what we want to see, it happens all the time

Does it mater what the people say, hey
Does it matter to you, who
Does it mater what the people say, hey
And there's nothing you can do

Up rise stronghold

What is the price you'll pay, no need to beg or borrow
Is there a better way will our children see tomorrow
Don't live in yesterday, so take the lead not follow
Forever holiday, we have the final say

[Solo: Alex]

Up rise stronghold

Feeling no devotion, the final vote is in
People have elected, the incumbent to win
The time is for reprisal, time to incite
'Cause there's nothing we can even fucking do, up rise stronghold

Fight for survival, fighting for your life
We're fighting for the reptiles
Freedom of speech, freedom of lies
They show us what we want to see, it happens all the time

Does it mater what the people say, hey
Does it matter to you, who
Does it mater what the people say, hey
What do the people want to do

Testament - Seven Seals Lyrics

Prophecy was written in the pages of old
What will these words reveal
Locked away and hidden until the end of time
The only way to open is to break all the seals

Revelation tells us, weep not behold
For the lion of Judah prevails
Christ wins the fight with Satan the devil
He alone can now open the book from the seals

Till the end of time as it was written
It's the end of the line, let it be done

This chapter will tell us of the crisis on earth
The beginning of a birth of a new age
First seal reveals false prophet will ride
The second seal leads us to war

Till the end of time as it was written
It's the end of the line, let it be done

The third seal will break let the famine begins
The pestilence comes from the fourth
As the rest of them break, you hear sounds from the heavens
Cries from the trumpets sound out

Till the end of time as it was written
It's the end of the line, let it be done

Step by step, the horseman will ride
Beware as false God deceives
Step by step when the white horse arrives
Christ wields his sword to the sky
Step by step by step, Christ comes wearing his crown

[Lead: Eric]

As the tales came to pass at the end of the world
The signs would come to be true
As a voice in the midst would speak of the beast
What was told will only bring death

As the tales came to pass at the end of the world
The signs would come to be true
As a voice in the midst would speak of the beast
What was told will only bring death

Till the end of time as it was written
It's the end of the line, let it be done

[Solo: Alex]

Step by step, the horseman will ride
Beware as false God deceives
Step by step when the white horse arrives
Christ wields his sword to the sky
Step by step by step, Christ comes wearing his crown

Testament - Born in a Rut Lyrics

Born in a rut, raised to love abuse
No innocence, never needed an excuse
To lie and cheat, the word on the street
Is just I am just no good, right?

(Yeah, I know I'm not right, but I just don't care)

Now I won't budge, keep your hands off me
Less you hear is the less that I believe
I still lie and cheat the word on the street
And yes, I'm no good, right?

Hey you, don't tell me what to believe
Hey you, I wear my heart on my sleeve
Hey you, I am the way that I seem
Hey you, you never listen to me

I really don't give a damn
I was born to lose
I will not live forever
I don't need no excuse

The day I die, no tears be cried
'Cause this what I choose
This tragedy is my destiny
There's nothing I can do

(Yeah, I know I still got problems, but I just don't care, right?)

[Solo: Alex]

I really don't give a damn
I was born to lose
I will not live forever
I don't need no excuse

The day I die, no tears be cried
'Cause this what I choose
This tragedy is my destiny
There's nothing I can do

Testament - Centuries of Suffering Lyrics

Starting at the dawn of time, violence played its role
The male, the alpha, number one has controlled the tribe
Sticks and stones were used to kill, then moved on to blades of steel
Let the bodies lie, let the bloody bodies lie

Through the ages war sustained
Our final stand, unholy grail

Centuries, centuries of suffering
Centuries, centuries of blood

[Solo: Eric]

Weapons played a major part in the fall of those who fought
The evolution of the kill, more precision more refined

Desprate stages, chaos reigns
A worthless man, you die impaled

Centuries, centuries of suffering
Centuries, centuries of blood
Centuries, centuries of punishment
Centuries, centuries of suffering

What will be the final answer
Release the missile, drop the bombs
Mother earth lies devastated
Hallowed ground gets decimated

After all, every thing we do
As man evolves, so do the weapons used
Our world demise, centuries of suffering

[Solo: Alex]

Please tell me your final answer
Release the missile, drop the bombs
Mother earth lies devastated
Please no more...

Testament - Black Jack Lyrics

Life, dismantle your life piece by piece
Winning the hand while still losing the bet
Even with an Ace up your sleeve

Rolling, snake eyes are poison to me
Gamble your life with a toss of the dice
The rush is all that I need

Stakes are high, and so am I
You bet your life on the line
No lady luck on my side
It's heads you win and tails you lose

It's heads you win in the city of sin

Life, spinning your life on the wheel
The joker is wild with a black grin he smiles
The gamble is still worth the risk

Stakes are high, and so am I
You bet your life on the line
No lady luck on my side
It's heads you win and tails you lose

Aces high, and so am I
They're watching you from the eye
I got the Aces so I double down
Where's lady luck, she ain't around

[Solo: Eric]

Life, a gambler's life haunting me
Seven eleven, I still cannot win
Snake eyes just won't me be

Stakes are high, and so am I
You bet your life on the line
No lady luck on my side
It's heads you win and tails you lose

Aces high, and so am I
They're watching you from the eye
I got the Aces so I double down
Where's lady luck, she ain't around

It's heads you win in the city of sin

Testament - Neptune's Spear Lyrics

So goddamn long, we've been searching
Why has it taken so long
An open mind is a weapon
Loaded and keeping it strong

The answer might be a question
Got my sights set to kill
Never asking for permission
We always do, as we will

One shot kill
One shot kill
One shot kill
One shot kill
Kill!

Undercover infiltration
Target has been secured
The destiny of a nation
Identity confirmed

Calling for action, we know just what to do
Deadly extraction, the body count, not few
And through the blood shed, the innocence consumed
There's no place to hide, our sights are set on you

[Solo: Eric]

One bird is wounded, how bad we can't tell
Secure the compound and gather intel
The clock is ticking, our mission is clear
Nothing can ever stop Neptune's spear

[Solo: Alex]

So goddamn long, we've been searching
'Cause what he did was so wrong
He couldn't hide behind deception
No longer run from us all

The final step of the mission
We got the green light to kill
The target's now in position
Shoot, fire at will

One shot kill
One shot kill
One shot kill
One shot kill

Testament - Canna-Business Lyrics

Now that the government have woken up and cleared their eyes
They're getting tolerant for medicine that's growing wild

Canna-business is away of life
Healing the sick while all the rest get high
Canna-business is living for the dream
Stoned world order is bringing in the green

Now that society is smoking up what's legalized
America profiting 'cause cannabis is not a crime

Canna-business is a sign of the times
Changing the law so the sick remain alive
Canna-business, let the truth be told
Hybrid medicine, waiting to be rolled

Now that society is smoking up what's legalized
America profiting 'cause cannabis is not a crime

Grown from the earth, we plant the money tree
For all it's worth, let canna-business set you free

(Smoke 'em if you got 'em)

[Solo: Eric, Alex]

(A stoned world order)

[Solo: Eric]

Testament - The Number Game Lyrics

Enthralled by the thirst, thoughts of a deviant man
Intoxified, thoughts of taking life
No live are mourned, no cares, nothing more
Two worlds collide with innocence and hatred

Fourteen days and fourteen lives
Random victims are my prey
13 dead unlucky strike
So many more...

Under the pain, I hear the distant cries
Suffocation of my thoughts, haunted by the 14 lives
The dead are always taunting me, my killing spree will show
Your life will now depend on the number that you pull

Fourteen days and fourteen lives
Random victims are my prey
12 still live, so 12 must die
I'm on a roll

Fourteen days and fourteen lives
Random victims are my prey
11 gone, 10 crucified
Who's next to go

9 bodies found today, 8 was yesterday
And as we down the count, 7 was there for me
I look for 6 today and 5 tomorrow pays
And no one ever seems to get away

From my pain, my number game
From my insane, number game
The blood will rain in my number game
The numbers lost, the number game
The numbers lost

[Solo: Alex, Eric]

Fourteen days and fourteen lives
Random victims are my prey
The number 4 was an easy score
Number 3 lived next door

Fourteen days and fourteen lives
Random victims are my prey
Number 2 was next in line
I'm on a roll

Fourteen days and fourteen lives
Random victims are my prey
Down to one there is no more
In 14 days are 14 dead

Misanthropic Rage is Avant Garde Black Metal Band from Poland. They’re AR. - Main Composer, Backing Vocals and W. - Main Vocals, Backing Composer. MR gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Misanthropic Rage?
Misanthropic Rage is a music project of 2 individuals, based on Black Metal foundation, but not limited to it.

Tell us about the concept of your Upcoming Album "Gates No Longer Shut" and what are Lyrical themes of "Gates No Longer Shut"?
This album are real gates for us, gates that we have opened and that will remain open. Both musically and metaphorically speaking it's just a beginning of our journey, just an opening, and the future shines before us.

Interview with Misanthropic Rage, Avant Garde Black Metal Band from Poland, Interview with Misanthropic Rage Avant Garde Black Metal Band from Poland
How did you choose the cover artwork?
We've sent album demo to the artist, Maciej Kamuda, along with the title we had in mind. The cover is his vision based on our music, and we instantly loved it, it's as accurate as we could imagine.

How were the songs written?
AR did most of the composing, I just showed him few riff ideas here and there. He recorded both guitars and bass. As for drums, we both worked on it's programming, since we don't have any live drummer. Vocals are mainly mine, with AR contributed all clean vocal parts.

How did the recording process go?
We recorded it same as Qualia EP – very fast, on our own, in a house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a forest. Sounds very cliche, but the atmosphere was great, there was this special vibe which made it possible. As for mixing and mastering this time we've handed the album to the Serakos Studio in Warsaw.

How do you think your music will progress in the future?
We're already collecting ideas for the next release, it's too early to give any specifics though. But this is just the beginning for us as I've stated before.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
For now it's just the two of us, but if we find another suitable musicians, we're gladly share our music on live stage.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
We're not thinking about it, since we're not a live band for the moment being. But who knows what tomorrow will bring...

Any last words?
Yeah, we would like to thank you for having us and great thanks to everyone who took interest on our music. We have many plans as Misanthropic Rage so we can promise that there is a lot more to come. Stay tuned.

Interview with Ottobrenero, Progressive Death Metal Band from Italy

Ottobrenero is Prog Death Black Metal Ban from Milan, Lombardy, Italy. They're Walter - Bass, Vocals, Daniele - Drums, and Virgilio - Guitars. Virgilio gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Ottobrenero?
Technically, we started playing in 2012, when long time friends Daniele, Walter and Virgilio gathered and came up with a list of covers. You know, that way you to get to know each other, musically speaking. The selected songs included both aggressive death metal songs and slower and melodic tunes, like Cathedral's "Midnight Mountain". Things were going OK, a few songs were in the works but then I had to move abroad for personal reasons. I came back to Milan after a few years and immediately called the others: we had to unbury the project. I started working right away on new material and in a few months more than 10 songs had been written.

What are lyrical themes of Ottobrenero?
Our songs tend to differ from each other both instrumentally and thematically. What usually happens is that I hand some roughly recorded music over to Daniele who lets himself be inspired: sometimes the song's mood would suggest him a subject, like "this song should really talk about one of those space colonies from Asimov's books". Some other times, he would come up with some nice sounding metrics and words first, and eventually tailor the rest around them until all follows a consistent thread. From this approach were born songs about extraterrestrial life, archaeology, ancient magic and folklore, space and void and their inconceivability. They often hide references, if not critiques, to much more mundane and earthly themes, in form of allegories. I really think Daniele did an amazing job with those words.

What are your influences?
This could turn out to be quite lengthy! Well, in terms of songwriting, it's quite obvious that we are greatly influenced by the colossi of Italian progressive rock, as we owe our very name to Area's 1973 song "Luglio, Agosto, Settembre (nero)" [July, August, September (black)]. I can't forget about other great acts from our musical culture like Franco Battiato or Il Balletto di Bronzo, whom have been mentioned as influences by famous and foreign bands such as Opeth, too. Then, we threw in the mix some our all-time-favourites, Killing Joke, King Diamond, Voivod, Type 0 Negative, Rush and something more modern and extreme like Enslaved, Nevermore, Emperor, At the Gates, Meshuggah, etc. You'll be the judge of its quality, but how we managed to squeeze all that stuff in one single record is pretty hilarious.
How did you choose the cover artwork?
We looked for something that could depict what's expressed in our lyrics. Time and space could be seen as a massive, eternal and mysterious stone statue of which we know next to nothing, surrounded by yet more endless plains where the unintelligible lies. Or more simply, we just thought my photoshop composition looked cool and the colours were jazzy.

How were the songs written?
The process usually starts with me having idea about a catchy arpeggio or riff, I play a lot with my classic guitar and that's where most of our songs originated. Once I was on a public bus, and in order not to forget something I had to hum it and record it with my phone, while trying not to look like an idiot. These basic ideas are then transferred to my electric guitar, recorded, shared with the others and discussed. Then I write an actual score where I imagine what the structure could be, usually during a sleepless night. Next stage is where the whole band sits and thinks if the lyrics fit the music and decides wether it lacks something or needs trimming or improving. Then comes Walter, who tries to apply the fittest vocal register to our creation. He is quite a versatile singer and enjoys swapping different styles, as per our influences.

How did the recording process go?
Once all is decided and we're all happy, we get in our home studio, put the click on and record all the necessary tracks, hoping for my baby daughter not to barge in and shout during that best vocal take. Mercurio was for the greater part created in one single room, where I eventually mixed and mastered everything.

What are your future plans?
The band is currently busy with promoting and spreading Mercurio, trying to reach as many listeners as possible. As I said, we did literally everything by ourself, there were no producers, no studio engineers, no money was invested except for instruments and software: this album is the result of an immeasurable amount of effort, copying with our daily jobs and stuff, so even reading a complete stranger praising it on our Facebook page means a lot to us. I secretly yearn for some spare time to start writing new songs, there are a ton of things I would like to experiment and so little time, sadly.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
You touched a raw nerve. For the same reason it took so much time and effort to complete the recordings, we are currently unable to even think about touring. It is definitely something I would do right away, should the planets align. Maybe, without aiming so high, we could start with local gigs and see how things go. The three of us all have very different jobs, with different times and shifts, so we'll need some luck, too. If we are talking dreams, then, I believe I would enjoy a south American tour, they're so passionate about extreme music, it's insane.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
Well, Slayer! One can always dream, right? All kidding aside, of all the recent bands I came across, Vektor has really grown on me. I love daring artists and Vektor surely knows how to crush a stereotype. In their "Charging the void", towards the end, some sort of female soul choir abruptly surges through the mix while they're screaming and shredding and blasting the drums. I remember thinking "what the **** were these guys thinking? How could they even consider...this is brilliant!". So, yeah, my pipe dream as a musician would be to play along those fellows.

Any last words?
I'd like to thank you for sharing your time with me and hope you'll love our album. I thank my bandmates, my patient girlfriend and that guy that sold me my ESP guitar back in 2004 so cheap. Cheers, ciao!
